Day 4 Up to Balestrand

Bit of a long haul today, 285 mile journey further north to Balestrand where we are basing ourselves for 4 nights and doing 'day' trips. Staying at a cracking hostel in Balestrand - en suite and a balcony overlooking the fiord all for £39 each!!
The initial 120 mile part of the route followed the Ryfylke route from Oanes on the Lysefjord to Hara in the Roldal valley where the 520 meets the E13. In particular the bit from Sauda along a gorge then up to the mountain plateau was spectacular - as is most of Norway anyway!.
Then it was along the 13 to Voss via Lofthus and the ferry over the Hardangerfiord just past the new bridge being built. Now here's a first for us, a roundabout in a tunnel, this being for the spur off to the new bridge connection. After Voss, another great road over the mountains to the ferry at Vangsnes, where we have to get off and on again at Hella to face the right way for landing at Dragsvik, then it's just around the corner to Balestrand. As you can see, sunshine & blue skies all the way - it ain't going to last I'm sure.
Somewhere on Ryfyllke!

Balestrand Vandrerhjem - more like a hotel and definitely recommended
Update on the hostel - price includes breakfast, the bathroom has underfloor heating, there's a PC available for free use, wifi available, two supermarkets within 5 minutes walk, petrol pumps around corner.
